Brevard Computer & Technology Services president & CEO retires after launching a successful IT Solution company

Jim Booth retired from his position as president & CEO of Brevard Computer & Technology Services, (BCTS) on May 5th of this year when he sold his family owned thriving I.T. company to Jeff Harrison of Cocoa.

Jim started BCTS with his wife Linda Booth in the Fall if 2000 after retiring from a successful and decorated career in the United States Navy. The Brevard County native spent 27 years in the armed services and retired with the rank of Captain. During his time with BCTS, Jim expanded to multiple retail locations, founded the Brevard Business Association Leads group and hosted the Computer Hour on the local 920WMEL.

In retirement, Jim plans to spend his days with his grandchildren, traveling and enjoying his “golden years” with his family as well as continuing his membership with his parish. Although he has stated that he may continue to consult for small businesses as a member of his son-in-law’s business coaching and marketing company, Omega Business Coaches, he has no immediate plans to hit the board rooms for at least a few months.
 
His contributions to the Indian River Colony Club computer club and have been recognized and will be missed. "We all wish him well", said one client who was a regular client of BCTS for years.

Although his actual retirement was a quiet one, he is sure that it was the right decision. “It was time for me to move on with the next stage in my life and just enjoy watching my grandkids grow up”, Booth said. 

 

Jeff Harrison continues to operate BCTS and serve Brevard county.

Erika Harrison is a henna artist with a Masters Degree in International Business. She runs her own successful body art supply and henna business. She is an accomplished author and is currently working on her second book to help getting body art businesses started.
 
She became a professional henna artist in 2001 as a way to earn a little extra money while staying home to raise and home-school her three sons. Soon after, she expanded her company to offer new body art services and to include other women from her home-school support group.
 
In 2003, Erika wrote the book, How to Start Your Own Henna Body Art Business. As her passion to be a teacher developed, she decided to combine her love for teaching and her love for body art into a new career as a body art instructor.

Erika became one of the founding board members for the International Certification for Natural Henna Arts. Teaching naturally led to selling the products that her students needed and in 2004 the company, Amerikan Body Art, was born.
 
In 2006, Amerikan Body Art decided to focus on the supply and instruction side of the Body-Art world, developing a superior line of products and traveling to tradeshows and conventions all over the world. Even though Erika had to give up the local body art business, she had plenty of former students who were willing to take it over for her.

The company is ever-expanding and is focused on hiring strictly stay-at-home moms from the home-school sector to help with the manufacturing and assembling part of the business as well as for some of the administrative jobs.

ASHES CIGAR TAVERN

Ashes Cigar Tavern is a laid back place made for cigar aficionados and their friends. Owner Stephen Ajhar is a cigar smoker himself and said that he wants Ashes to be a place where smokers can hang out and have a good time. It’s a real laid back place—you feel like you’ve just walked into a friend’s house for a friendly game of Texas Hold’em or to watch a football game. The seating is comfortable and the new deck is great for the cooler evenings.

Ashes opened in November of 2006. Cigars were a hobby of Stephen’s and he decided that opening a cigar tavern would be a great way to share his love for cigars. There is a large humidor with a selection for both aficionados and rookies. Some of the more unique cigars offered there range from the Padron Anniversary and, of course, Hemmingways. Ashes, also has over 40 imported beers and a selection of wines available at the bar as well as Cappuccinos. Customers can also purchase smoking accessories like cigar liters, cutters, humidors, cigar jars and other items. And for those of you who are aficionados as well, you can join the Ashes cigar club, which has perks like discounts on all purchases and invitations to special events.

Ashes host Texas Hold’em tournaments every Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7 PM and live music on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as a Ladies Night every Tuesday.
